When we first assessed the structure, it was clear that walking up these stairs caused everything to shake. To address this, we replaced the worn-out stringers and treads with new, sturdy materials and added risers to meet current building standards. This reinforcement gave the staircase a strong, steady feel, ensuring it was safe for regular use.

Railing Repair and Painting for a Fresh, Cohesive Look

Many of the original handrails and pickets (vertical rail supports) were still in decent shape, so we preserved those that were solid. For any railings and pickets that showed signs of wear, we replaced them with new materials, ensuring a consistent look and feel. With a focus on railing repair, we aimed to bring stability back to the structure without compromising on appearance.

To give the entire structure a clean, polished look, we applied a primer followed by two coats of gloss paint to the railings, pickets, stringers, and treads. This not only improved the visual appeal but also added an extra layer of protection against the elements.

Additional Touches: Deck and Porch Painting

To complete the transformation, we repainted the deck to match the newly refreshed stairs, treads, and risers. The fence underneath the porch also received a fresh coat of white paint, as did the porch’s stability wall, bringing a cohesive look to the entire outdoor area. We began the project with a thorough pressure washing of the entire structure to remove dirt and prep the surfaces for a long-lasting finish.
